The Merseyside club Vows Not to Alter Forward-Thinking Philosophy Despite Current Struggles, Declares Arne Slot
Liverpool's head coach has stated that the Anfield decision-makers are aligned with his perspective regarding the recent downturn and he refuses to compromise their attacking style in quest for a solution. The manager conceded that six losses in seven games was not good enough ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.
Increasing Scrutiny Throughout Tough Spell
The manager acknowledged the pressure was on before his altered lineup were eliminated from the Carabao Cup against the London club. However, he maintained that this need to reverse the decline is not coming from the Anfield hierarchy or football administration following a summer transfer outlay of approximately £450 million.
"Our views align," remarked the Liverpool boss, whose squad will encounter Real Madrid in the continental tournament and travel to Manchester City in the Premier League.
Player Depth Stays Unquestioned
The coach is convinced his team "possess an exceptional group if they are fully healthy and all ready for the programme we are facing". He mentioned that the transfer window acquisitions in talents including Florian Wirtz and the Swedish striker, who is expected to be sidelined again against Aston Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in such a good place for the immediate prospects and the distant prospects".
Integration Challenges
When pressed on why his team were struggling to integrate, he responded: "That question isn't constructive. 'What are the reasons?' I provide reasons and people say I'm offering alibis. I can identify several explanations why we are not winning as much or suffering defeats as we do but, as I consistently state, there are inadequate reasons to have a run of form as we had now."
- No matter if I could come up with numerous reasons
- When you are Liverpool you cannot lose
- Unfortunately six out of seven
Backline Performance
Only the Lancashire club (21) have conceded more clear opportunities from normal situations this season than Slot's team (19). The table-toppers, the Gunners, have conceded only two. Yet the manager disputes the team has been overly exposed and maintains there is no justification to sacrifice his attacking principles for a more pragmatic style after ten fixtures without a clean sheet.
"From my perspective we don't allowing many opportunities so I don't see a reason to modify our philosophy completely but we must improve in not conceding goals," he said.
Particular Cases
"Versus the Red Devils, how many chances did we concede? Against Eintracht Frankfurt when we were leading 3-1, we scarcely gave up a shot on target. In every match we have competed in we haven't allowed a numerous openings. Definitely not. We do give away a somewhat more than the prior term but that has to do with us being 1-0 down so you play more openly. But typically I don't think that our issue is that we concede too many chances. Our problem is we fail to convert the openings we produce."
