This young athlete boasts substantial online presence
Kai Trump will have numerous prominent supporters when she starts her professional golf debut this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, received a tournament invitation to participate at the Annika competition in Florida.
Her grandfather, a passionate golfer, operates numerous courses worldwide and frequently competes against Kai.
"He's quite skilled. I can't reveal details but we have some close matches," she mentioned.
She mentioned that her grandfather, who won't be present, advised her: "Just stay calm."
"My grandpa essentially advised me to compete and have fun," she continued.
"To me, he's just a regular grandfather. He can't make it this weekend. He's focused on running the country, making him rather occupied."
As an amateur, Kai has competed in only three events this year and maintains position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association rankings.
But she's able to get advice from 15-time major champion, who is dating her mother.
"He stands as the top athlete globally," Kai expressed.
"Additionally, he's a more impressive individual. He suggested me to go out there, relax, following the flow."
She'll challenge some of most prominent players in the sport at the Annika, featuring world number two the champion, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
Officials commented that involving Kai exposes the sport to new audiences, specifically with the next generation.
Kai boasts millions of followers and just introduced her own apparel and wellness brand.
The competition starts at 17:30 GMT.
