Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
