Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, commenting that he could not remember "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I think of you." He ended with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a public database noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the killings, public personalities expressed divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative claims that were broadly criticized by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the critics recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disturbing" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an adviser could have acted when the choice to weigh in on the death was made.
