Deadly Storm Approaches Vietnam Following Resulting in at Least 114 Deaths in Philippines
Prior to making landfall in Vietnam, the storm system left a trail of devastation in the Philippines - including a minimum of 114 fatalities.
Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a disaster situation - defined by circumstances including significant loss of life, extensive property destruction, and interruption of income sources and the normal way of life for people in the affected areas.
The weather system, called in the region Tino, tore through the populous island of Cebu, flooding complete communities and carrying vehicles down roads.
Many thousands of people had to be relocated, others are resting in emergency shelters.
Rescue Response Efforts Ongoing
Disaster personnel have begun work while evacuated residents seek shelter in temporary housing.
The magnitude of this calamity has resulted in large-scale rescue operations in the impacted areas.
