Aircraft Carrying US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Windshield
An aircraft transporting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was required to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was discovered in the plane's windshield, per an official announcement which verified that Hegseth was safe.
"The aircraft touched down based on standard protocol and all passengers, such as Defense Secretary Hegseth, is secure," an official representative stated in a online announcement.
The secretary was coming back from a short visit to Brussels at the time.
This incident does not mark the first occasion that a United States armed forces jet carrying a high-ranking official has encountered technical problems.
In a previous incident this year, a US Air Force plane carrying the US Secretary of State to the German city of Munich was compelled to head back to Washington after suffering a mechanical problem.
